A combination rated 26,001 pounds or more when the vehicle being towed is rated over 10,000 pounds. General knowledge, combination, and air brakes if the truck has them.
A single vehicle rated 26,001 pounds or more, or that vehicle towing 10,000 pounds or less. General knowledge, and air brakes if the truck has them. No combination test unless you are going to Class A.
A smaller vehicle that still needs a CDL because it carries 16 or more people including the driver, or because it hauls a placarded hazardous material.
Endorsement letters you will see on a license: H hazardous materials, N tank, P passenger, S school bus, T doubles and triples, X tank and hazardous materials together. Air brakes are a knowledge test of their own. Skipping that test can put a restriction on the license. Confirm the class and the letters with your state before you apply. 8 endorsement sections are in the practice below.
5 free questions in each endorsement. Answers stay hidden until you submit. The line on these sets is 80%, which is the written-test line in 49 CFR 383.135 and in Texas CDL exams. A score here is not a pass rate.
