Article 230
The service is the supply from the utility to the building disconnect. On an open-book exam, Article 230 is where you confirm which conductors are service conductors and where the service disconnect sits.
Article 100
Article 100 is the glossary the rest of the code depends on. A lot of missed knowledge items are a swapped word, not a missed calculation.
Article 210
Article 210 is the chapter candidates live in: required receptacle outlets, GFCI and AFCI locations, and the small-appliance and bathroom circuits a dwelling kitchen needs.
Article 250
Article 250 is the long chapter. The misses come from treating every green or bare wire as the same thing. Split the electrode, the bond, and the fault path before you answer.
Article 430
Article 430 is its own map. Branch-circuit conductors, overload protection, and short-circuit and ground-fault protection are different jobs, and the tables do not all start from the same current.
Articles 215, 240, and 408
Feeders, overcurrent devices, and panelboards show up as one decision on test day: what is feeding the load, what opens the circuit, and what the panel is allowed to hold.
Articles 314, 334, and 358
Wiring-method items are chapter finds plus the occasional volume sum. Article 314 is boxes, Article 334 is nonmetallic-sheathed cable, and Article 358 is EMT.
Articles 500 and 680
Special occupancies are lookup chapters. The skill is knowing you have left the dwelling rules and opened the article that names the hazard or the water.
Article 220
Article 220 is the general-load chapter: floor area, small-appliance circuits, and demand. The free problems print every volt-ampere figure the step needs so you can practice the arithmetic without a copied table.
Basic power math
The rest of the calculations portion is ordinary power math: current from watts, three-phase power, voltage drop from a printed resistance, and transformer full-load current.
