Ohio · BMV knowledge tests
160 free questions across 8 endorsements, 20 in each section. CDL Full Access is $19/month and opens the other 280 starter questions, for every endorsement, not $10 each. Air brakes, combination, hazmat, tank, doubles, passenger, and school bus are included with general knowledge.
These are the BMV class page and the Commercial Driver License Manual (HSY 7605), not a promise about how anyone scores. At a state testing site the BMV has listed $10 for the pre-trip, $10 for the basic test, and $30 for the road test. Third-party sites set their own fees. Confirm both before you go. Drivers under 21 are restricted to intrastate driving in Ohio.
The BMV says you pass a vision screen and the knowledge test for the class and the endorsements at a driver exam station, then buy the commercial learner permit and self-certify the kind of driving. A knowledge test is required for each class, for each endorsement, and to remove an air-brake restriction. The manual is published in English as HSY 7605 and in Spanish as HSY 7606. That is the handbook. Confirm the language of the knowledge test at the station. This site does not publish a pass rate.
The BMV lists the skills test as a pre-trip inspection with a 30-minute limit, a basic maneuverability test with a 40-minute limit, and a road test. You bring a vehicle for the class, including a bus built for 16 or more people including the driver if you want the passenger endorsement. Fail any part and you wait two days to retest. The manual says the segments are vehicle inspection, basic vehicle control, and on-road driving, in that order, and a failed segment stops the rest.
The BMV requires electronic proof of entry-level driver training that matches the class and endorsement on the permit, or proof of an exemption, before you schedule or attempt the skills test. After you pass, you buy the CDL at a deputy registrar before the permit expires. One Pass Prep is not on the Training Provider Registry. This subscription is not that course and it does not replace the skills test.
The BMV class page walks from knowledge tests to the permit to ELDT to the skills test. It does not restate a day count on that page. 49 CFR 383.25 says a CLP holder is not eligible for the skills test in the first 14 days after the permit is first issued. Confirm the wait with the BMV before you schedule. 49 CFR 383.135 sets an 80% floor on each knowledge test. The sets here use that line. They are not BMV forms. Hazmat still needs the TSA threat assessment described in the manual.
One Pass Prep is not affiliated with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles or FMCSA. This site does not issue an Ohio CLP or CDL.
20 free questions in each endorsement. Answers stay hidden until you submit. The line on these sets is 80%, which is the written-test line in 49 CFR 383.135. A score here is not a pass rate. The counts on each card are the free set and the original questions in that section.

The questions are original. They are written for the same topics the national manuals cover, which Ohio uses. They are not BMV items. Mixed free practice pulls two free questions from each endorsement. All CDL states.

The free section tests stay on the site. This subscription opens the rest of the starter bank for every endorsement listed above. It is saved in this browser for the current month. There is no email account.
This browser keeps one subscription at a time. Saving CDL Full Access replaces another pass already stored here. It does not stack subscriptions.
