160 free questions across 8 endorsements, 20 in each section. CDL Full Access is $19/month and opens the other 1640 questions, for every endorsement, not $10 each. Air brakes, combination, hazmat, tank, doubles, passenger, and school bus are included with general knowledge.
These are the Motor Vehicle Division application page, the testing-locations page, and the Arizona Commercial Driver License Manual, not a promise about how anyone scores. Bring the identity, residence, and Social Security documents, and give the medical certificate time to reach the National Registry before you pay a fee or start a test. Confirm the current permit fees in the manual. This site does not issue the permit.
MVD says knowledge testing for a commercial learner permit or an endorsement is at any MVD office from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and you do not need an appointment. Each knowledge test needs 80 percent. You pay for the class before you test, and the application page says the knowledge tests are taken in the same visit. Fail one and you wait until the next business day. A section you passed counts, and you do not repeat it. The FAQ says the knowledge tests have unlimited attempts after the fees. The sets on this site use the 80% line. They are not MVD forms, and this site does not publish a pass rate.
A first CDL starts with a commercial learner permit. MVD says it is valid for a maximum of 12 months. The manual sets the minimum age at 21, and an applicant who is at least 18 may apply for an intrastate permit that is valid only in Arizona. Drivers under 21 are not allowed to haul a placarded amount of hazardous materials. An out-of-state CLP does not transfer. You are not eligible for the skills test in the first 14 days after the permit is first issued. The FAQ says that if the permit expires, the knowledge tests are taken again before another skills attempt.
MVD requires entry-level driver training before the skills test for a first Class A or B, an upgrade from Class B to Class A, or a first school bus, passenger, or hazmat endorsement. That training comes from a provider on the Training Provider Registry. Hazmat still needs the TSA threat assessment. The manual says that clearance is good for five years from the day it is completed, and MVD notifies you 60 days before the assessment expires, which may not be the same day as the license. After the 14 days and any required training, you request a skills appointment at an MVD office or through MVD. The tester contacts you. Skills testing is by appointment. One Pass Prep is not on the Training Provider Registry. This subscription is not an ELDT course and it does not replace the skills test.
The manual tells you to review the vehicle inspection, basic control, and on-road chapters before the skills test. The FAQ lists those parts as a pre-trip inspection, a skills test, and a road test, and a part you passed is credited. The manual says a Class C permit has to include the passenger endorsement, and that MVD does not issue a Class C permit with the hazardous materials endorsement. Adding passenger or school bus means a CLP with that endorsement and a skills test in the bus. Confirm the current permit fees before you pay.
One Pass Prep is not affiliated with the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division or FMCSA. This site does not issue an Arizona CLP or CDL.
20 free questions in each endorsement. Answers stay hidden until you submit. The line on these sets is 80%, which is the written-test line in 49 CFR 383.135. A score here is not a pass rate. The counts on each card are the free set and the original questions in that section.
